Actors should prepare to read from one of the audition sides prepared in Casting Manger. If unavailable for the October 13th audition date, actors may submit a video audition via Casting Manager. Check out these tips on a successful video audition.
Age restrictions? All roles in this production will be filled with school-aged actors 18 and under. We recommend students no younger than 6 audition. All actors should be comfortable reading and following direction.
Covid-19 Precautions
For auditions, actors will be participating in readings. All families should wear a mask upon entering the Regional Performing Arts Center and while waiting. Actors may be asked to remove their masks for their reading audition. With the development of current CDC guidelines, it is our plan that all actors will be unmasked onstage for the production in December. More detailed information will be disseminated upon casting, but actors will be required to wear masks for rehearsals; regardless of vaccination status; per the CDC guidelines.
Both Regional Performing Arts and the Nick of Time directing staff take the treatment of our actors’ health seriously and policies during production will change to reflect guidance from the CDC and Indiana State Government.
About the Show
In this Christmas whodunit, ace detective Red Mistletoe is retained by the citizens of the North Pole to find Santa Claus, who has disappeared at the height of the season. If losing Santa wasn’t enough, the heretofore colorful citizens are losing their Christmas spirit and their holiday hues. As Christmas draws near, the elves, rather than carefree in color, are glum in gray; Doctor Green, no longer sporting green, is bitten by a reindeer; and Purple Gumdrop Isn’t purple anymore! And the costumed children, rehearsing for Mrs. Claus’ annual “Santa Send-off Celebration,” begin to look like they’re in an old black and white movie. It’s up to Detective Red Mistletoe, now in shades of gray, to get some answers in black and white. Could the three suspicious new arrivals, Bob Humbug, Fruitcake (Humbug’s sidekick) and Holly Wreath (Santa’s new red-headed secretary) know anything about Santa’s whereabouts? Do they really hail from the South Pole as they claim, or will their caper be uncovered by Red—helped by a now-repentant and soft-hearted Holly Wreath? Can Red save Santa in time to bring a colorful Christmas to the children of the world and even find a little romance along the way? Of course he can—Just in the Nick of Time!
